Budwin Conn is one of the few living artists – and perhaps the only one – who combines sound draughtsmanship with a sensuous use of colour to portray contemporary scenes which are of more than contemporary validity. His beautiful young figures are such as may be seen in any modern town. But he sets them for preference against a dark and sometimes almost menacing background, symbolic of the human state. His work, deserves to be far better known than it has been up till now, and I hope that this exhibition  will be the means of making it so.” Cecil Gould, Ancien Conservateur de la National Gallery à Londres.
